Bernard V. Fischbach, MD, CCRP and Cindy L. Corpier, MD, of Dallas Nephrology Associates recently presented at “Everyday Heroes Living with Kidney Disease” at the National Kidney Foundation’s Patient & Communication Education Seminar & Luncheon.
The event was held at the Doubletree Hotel Dallas in Dallas, TX on Sunday, March 12, 2017, and was attended by 130 participants. Presentations and networking opportunities provided education about chronic kidney disease and allowed those affected by it to meet and connect with other patients, caregivers, and kidney health professionals.
Dr. Fischbach’s keynote presentation, “Living Well with CKD,” encompassed the importance of a patient being an active member of their own healthcare team as well as an overview of complications they may encounter and the treatment for each. Dallas Nephrology Associates believes that an educated patient is empowered to make better choices about their own health resulting in them living a longer and healthier life with kidney disease.
Dr. Corpier’s breakout session, “Transplantation,” focused on treatment options for patients with kidney disease who choose transplantation. Dr. Corpier explained the kidney transplantation process with an overview of the transplantation definition, history, donor types, criteria, evaluation, and the pre-workup process. She also participated as panel member during the symposium in which attendees were allowed to ask questions.
