After six years of dedicated service to the National Kidney Foundation Serving Texas (NKF), Dallas Nephrology Associates Director of Human Resources David Knop was named as the Board Chairman in April 2023. He has served on the board as Vice Chairman for the past three years.
In his new role, David’s responsibilities will expand to include recruiting new board members, leading monthly board meetings, and promoting NKF fundraising, education, and community involvement both locally and across the state of Texas. He will also work alongside the new Texas NKF Executive Director Calvin Lyons to support the NKF staff and board members in their fight against kidney disease by raising money and awareness while improving public health, education, research, and innovation.
David has been actively involved in multiple NKF events and programs. He recently attended the NKF Spring Clinical Meetings 2023 in Austin, Texas, and was a presenter at the Bonne Santé Gala in Frisco, Texas. He also visited Camp Reynal, which is an annual summer camp for children with renal and urology diseases.
For the past 15 years, he has led a dedicated team from Dallas Nephrology Associates (DNA) at the annual DFW Kidney Walk. Through the years, Team DNA consistently finishes as a top fundraiser. Planning is underway for a large presence again at the October 28, 2023, NKF Dallas Fort Worth Kidney Walk at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas.
David is also involved in supporting the community through the NKF KEEP Healthy screenings, which educates families about kidney health and risk factors, as well as providing recommendations for maintaining healthy kidneys. David and the DNA team members continue to provide support at multiple NKF KEEP Healthy screenings across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex each year. He anticipates that DNA will provide support to nearly 20 Dallas-Fort Worth area screenings during this year alone.
“Volunteering at these community outreach activities is a passion for me, enabling me to personally connect with and support the wonderful team of NKF staff and DNA clinicians who serve at these events,” David said.
During his two-year term as Board Chairman, David wants to increase awareness and financial support for kidney disease research and treatment and promote successful programs that align with the mission and vision of the NKF. He also looks forward to building an active and engaged NKF board in Texas.
